The House

The house from the car port The house. The house of the little donkey (Casa o Burrinho) is set in a beautiful hill village (or hamlet), of fourteen or so houses. These have a spectacular setting, and magnificent views over the Algarve coast. Some of the houses in the area are still owned by local Portuguese families who farm the hillsides for their living. They still use donkeys and ancient farm implements, as they have for generations, hence the village is almost untouched by the 20th Century. This makes it a very peaceful and picturesque place to chill out and enjoy (but no doubt farming is very hard work for the local peasants who are reserved but very kindly and cheerful).

The house is in its own grounds of approximately half of an acre.  As the property is on a hillside 1300 ft above sea level it is completely secluded.  It is typical of the local Algarve houses and barns, having originally been built many years ago. It has now been completely modernised internally to a high standard, but keeping some of its original features such as the bread oven, and  makes a charming and comfortable place to enjoy whilst it blends in with the village and its surroundings.
