Facilities

The Village The village of Malhada do Judeu consists of 14 stone houses nestling into the hillsides; the inhabitants are true peasants living a lifestyle substantially unchanged through centuries. It has very little passing traffic and no shops, bars or restaurants. The nearest are in Santa Catarina, about 15 minutes drive, that in itself is unsophisticated.
A wide range of facilities are available within a half hour drive, however, as are the perfect golden sandy beaches of the eastern Algarve.
Property Type Cottage (detached) in quarter acre of secluded grounds
Meal Basis Self catering
Location Rural village, peaceful hillside location
Kitchen All modern conveniences including dish washer, microwave, washing machine, electric / gas hob, oven and fridge freezer (and bottle opener!!).
Living Room Comfortable area including a fire place, seating for six people, coffee table and audio cassette / CD player.
Dining Room Seating for six people with access to the swimming pool and rear terrace via a small flight of stairs.
Bedrooms Our home has three double bedrooms, one room with a double bed, and two single beds in each of the others. Two of the bedrooms have en suite bathrooms, and the main bedroom also has a separate dressing room. There is a further bathroom adjacent to the third bedroom.  All are fully equipped with bedding, towelling, and hair dryers.
Front terrace Table and chairs for eating breakfast in the morning .
Sun umbrella is provided in case it gets too hot.
Rear terrace Barbecue area and covered area for the really hot days. Chairs and tables are available here too. The swimming pool is 35ft long and 8ft deep and warmed by the sun's solar energy.
Outside the front of the property Plenty of parking space available.
Suitability Small children are welcome to the cottage but we can't unfortunately, cater for pets. There are stairs into the property but the elderly or disabled are welcome as other rooms are accessible without need of stairs.
Local Activities Horse riding, mountain biking, swimming, walking and donkey riding.
Slightly further afield There are plenty of restaurants in the main towns (with Tavira being our largest coastal town). You can also find the beach in Tavira or you can go towards Spain and visit Monte Gordo or travel West and find Villamura. These have more British style restaurants (but that's not really the point is it??)
Golf, tennis, wind surfing and waterparks are available within driving distance.
A car will be essential when you visit.
Communication At present we do not have a telephone installed in the property with most of our customers  commending us on this fact  as it ensures your tranquillity isn't spoilt! We have found, however, that various mobile phones work in the area so if you want that luxury then check with your service provider that your phone works here. Of course, there are telephone facilities in all the local towns.
You can use the post office in Santa Catarina to send your postcards.
General Information Central heating is included as are linen and towels. There is a maid service before arrival and then once a week. You can arrange to have the maid attend as required, however, you will need to pay for this locally.
Letting We will be glad to offer you our home for your holiday stay. Please give us a call and we can arrange the best price for you. At present we are taking bookings ranging from 7, 10 and 14 nights and our rates are based on those durations. If you want something slightly different (like a long weekend) then call us and we'll give you the best price we can!
We will consider long winter lets. You will get a reduced rate as this is out of season. We will ask you to pay for gas at cost during this period though.
